Charles Hoyt Simmons
Charles H. Simmons, "Charlie", age 83, passed away on December 29th, 2019 at his sister's home in Coultersville, CA. He had been visiting from his home in Phoenix, AZ for the last several weeks. His sister, Charlene, daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and David Chantler from Calgary, Alberta, Canada were with him.
Charles earned his bachelor's degree from Seattle Pacific University in 1955. He also held advanced degrees from the University
of Southern California. He is survived by his sister, Charlene Dare of Coulterville, CA; his daughter, Sheryl Chantler of Calgary,
Alberta, CA; his son Charles of Redwood City, CA; his son Scott of Seattle, WA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Charlie enjoyed a full career as a motivational speaker and teacher of communication and self-improvement. He devoted his later years
to organizing and inspiring tennis players by forming USTA teams and leading them to Sectional and National tournaments both as a
Captain and teammate. His devotion to the sport at the Phoenix Tennis Center was felt by the hundreds of tennis enthusiast who knew him.
