My Tennis Page
My love of tennis was accelerated when I was
in language school, located in Monterey, California.
I was in the Army and next to my apartment on base were
8 tennis courts, four of which had backboards. School was out at 3pm and dinner
wasn’t until 6pm so tennis and the backboard became my favorite time to kill
until dinner.
This is a picture of me in early 1968 on the tennis courts
practicing my serve.
During the spring and summer of 2014 I was a member of three league teams: 1. Men's 5 court; 2. Mixed 3.0 league; and a 7.0 mixed league. The Men's 5 court one our group and advanced to the Sectionals. Sectionals are like regions in the U.S.A. and our Sectional consists of New Mexico, El Paso, Tucson and Flagstaff. We won our sectionals and have advanced to the Nationals in October. The Mixed 3.0 won our group and advanced to the Sectionals in October. My men's 65+ (65 and older) won our sectionals and went to the Nationals in March. We took 4th place out of 5,446 65+ men in the U.S.
In addition to playing tennis, I also design and maintain web sites. The Drop In web site and the Phoenix Tennis Center web site I designed and currently maintain.
I am also a member of Match Point, a club
centered at the Phoenix Tennis Center.
Match point has monthly tournaments.
The Phoenix Tennis Center was without a web site so I volunteered to design and build it.

There are other activities at the U.S.T.A. that I volunteer for and enjoy being a part of the organization.
